Jelly Soap Embeds into Melt and Pour Soap Tutorial

by Rustic Escentuals

This is the second tutorial showing how to work with the new Jelly Soap Base. This tutorial shows how easy it is to embed the Jelly Soap into Melt and Pour soap.

Preparation is key for this tutorial. You will need to create the embeds and have them ready to go before making this soap. To make the embeds, follow the Basic Jelly Soap Tutorial.

Making Inserts

Make three 2 ounce soaps following the Basic Jelly Soap Tutorial to make the embeds. Any Gel Soap colors of your choice can be used. These can be made well ahead of time and stored for later use. Scent is optional.

Step 1
Cut up the Jelly Soaps into small pieces and set aside. You can choose whether or not they’re uniform, geometric, or just freestyle & random sizes and shapes.

Making Soap Bars

Step 1
Cut up 8 ounces of Ultra Clear Melt and Pour Soap Base into small cubes using a sharp knife. This amount will make 2 bars of soap.

Step 2
Melt in a microwave in 30 second bursts until melted. Do not burn or boil, this will result in a poor quality rubbery soap. If there are any small chunks of soap left, stir slowly; the heat of the soap will melt these small chunks.

Step 3
Using a disposable pipette add 3 ml of soap scent. For this tutorial we used Mittens and Mistletoe Fragrance Oil. Stir in slowly until fully incorporated. Always stir the soap base slowly to avoid forming bubbles in the soap.

Step 4
With a thermometer, make sure the temperature is around 135° to avoid warping the mold. Pour a thin layer of melted soap into each mold cavity. Spritz with alcohol to remove any bubbles and let set.

Step 5
Spritz the Jelly Soap embeds and the thin layer of clear soap in the molds with alcohol.

Step 6
Pour more clear soap 3/4 of the way up each mold cavity. Quickly add the Jelly Soap embeds into the melted soap. You can choose to add all of one color or mix them up.

Step 7
Once all the embeds are placed in the mold, spritz with alcohol to remove any bubbles that may have formed. Let set until completely hardened and cool.

The Jelly Soap embeds add a nice sheer stained glass look to the soaps with a surprising texture once they are reached. Experiment with different colors and shapes!
